Paints 16, Kings 11 (1st Game of June 21st DH)

Conclusion of the rained out opening day game from June 1st

SPRINGFIELD, OH – It took nearly three weeks, but the Champion City Kings put up a show in the Opening Night game, battling with the Ohio River Valley Division leading Chillicothe Paints. Despite outhitting the Paints, Chillicothe never gave up the lead in a 16-11 offensive slugfest.

Edrick Padilla (Salinas, Puerto Rico; Ohio Wesleyan) hit his first two home runs of the season, along with Jonah Sutton’s (Collierville, TN; Memphis) first home run. Patrick Fultz (Springfield, OH; Shawnee High School) led the team with 4 RBI with a 3-for-5 performance. Padilla led the team in hits by going 4-of-5 with two homers and two singles.

Gabe Phipps (Yorktown, IN; Lake Land College) was charged with the loss, pitching back on Opening Night and going 1.2 Innings. Aaron Miller (Canton, OH; Notre Dame College) threw 3.2 innings, just allowing two runs while walking three and striking out one. Jake Woolf (Beavercreek, OH; California University of Pennsylvania) threw 1.1 innings of shutout ball.
