Kings 4, Paints 3 (2nd Game of June 21st DH)

Kings win the second game of the double header in Chillicothe

SPRINGFIELD, OH – A close game, mixed in with fantastic pitching from Drew Lang (Naples, FL; Tallahassee CC) and timing hitting for Champion City’s walk-off win, was the key to snap a six-game slide for the Kings. Champion City leaned on Lang for his fourth start and Ethan Krizen (North Port, FL; Tallahassee CC) walked it off with a 2-RBI single to give the hosts a 4-3 win over the Chillicothe Paints.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Alex Ryan (Lake Mills, WI; Valparaiso) tied the game up with a 2-run home run. His team-leading third home run also brought home Sean Kolenich (Parma, OH; Baldwin-Wallace.)

Fast forward to the Kings’ 7th, as the Paints called on their third pitcher. Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, PA; Ohio University) led off with a double, and pitch-hitter Patrick Fultz (Springfield, OH; Shawnee High School) took a four-pitch walk. Both runners moved up ninty feet with a wild pitch. Ethan Ethan Krizen, who was previously 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts. With the infield in to prevent the tying run coming home, it was Krizen bouncing his first hit of the game behind the third-baseman, which scored Dolan easily. The thorw came in close, but Fultz speedily came home for Champion City’s first walk-off win.

Lang became just the second Kings pitcher to record a complete game, throwing seven strong innings in his first victory. Lang allowed three unearned runs, nine hits, zero walks, and eleven strikeouts.

The Kings, now at 5-13, will welcome in the Wabash River Division leaders in the Danville Dans. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. More information on tickets, PLTV links, the newest podcast, and more can be found at championcitykings.com!
