SPRINGFIELD, OH – After battling tough with the visiting Terre Haute Rex, the Champion City Kings were held to two hits in the nightcap of the June 25th doubleheader, falling 7-2.
The Rex scored five of their seven runs in the first two innings, primarily off of Trey Carter (Wheelersburg, OH; Rio Grande.) Jake Woolf (Beavercreek, OH; Cal. Univ. of Penn) would come in the second inning to stop the offensive rush, allowing just the last run in the second frame.
Ben Stuart (Mason, OH; Evansville) recorded the first hit for the Kings. It would be the last until the Kings’ sixth inning, as Edrick Padilla (Salinas, Puerto Rico; Ohio Wesleyan) homered for the lone two runs of the game.
Woolf went 3.2 innings, allowing the last run in the second off of five hits. Gabe Carter (Huntington, WV; Rio Grande) threw a scoreless sixth, but gave up the last two runs of the game in the seventh.
