LAFAYETTE, IN – The Champion City Kings, despite several come-back attempts, couldn’t clear the Aviators at Loeb Stadium and dropped an offensive-heavy 15-12 game in Lafayette.
Kyle Kesel (Hilliard, OH; Hilliard Darby High School) took the loss, allowing six runs (two earned) in his 2.2 innings of work. Kesel allowed four hits, four walks, and struck out two. Johnathan Ray (Sylvania, OH; Tiffin University) allowed four more runs in his two innings of relief, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two. Cam Gilkerson (Hilliard, OH; Hilliard Darby High School) threw for the next 2.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits on one walk and three punchouts. Luke Myers (Springfield, OH; Indiana Tech) threw the last two-thirds of the game, allowing two runs (one earned) on a hit and one walk.
Nikolas Pereira (Palmetto Bay, FL; Florida Southwest State College) went 3-for-3 and walked twice, scoring four runs and picking up two RBI. Broc Parmer (Fargo, ND; Gulf Coast State College), Lucas Day (Dayton, OH; Oakland University), and Connor Huzicka (Gahanna, OH; Tiffin University) each picked up two hits, with Day securing another four RBI performance.
