Kings Held to Two Hits in 5-0 Loss to Mill Rats

SPRINGFIELD, OH – Four runs in the opening inning against starter Zach Cabell (North Ridgeville, OH; Clark State College) were enough for the Johnstown Mill Rats to win their fourth straight game and knock off the host Champion City Kings 5-0. The offense was held to two hits and four base-runners in the game.

While Cabell gave up four runs in the first inning, the right-hander would keep the Mills off the board in his next four. All together, Cabell pitched five innings while allowing four earned runs on five hits, two walks while striking out four. Andrew DeWitt (Springfield, OH; Clark State College) pitched next, going two innings plus three batters in the eighth, allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out two. Luke Myers (Springfield, OH; Indiana Tech) pitched the last two innings, only allowing one walk while collecting two strikeouts.

Broc Parmer (Fargo, ND; Gulf Coast State College) broke up a no-hitter bid in the seventh inning with a base hit out to right-center. Evan Lorey (Howell, MI; Spring Arbor University) got the second hit in the ninth inning, but the Kings could not score in the 5-0 loss.

With the loss, Champion City sits at 5-14 with three more home games in the week. Thursday is Dueling Pianos Night against the Johnstown Mill Rats. For tickets and PLTV links, check out more at championcitykings.com!
