DANVILLE, IL – After three straight games of double-digit runs and hits for the Champion City Kings, the offense cooled off in a run-rule loss to the host Dans 11-1. The Kings were held to three hits.
Champion City got their lone run in the first inning with a double-steal, as Broc Parmer (Fargo, ND; Gulf Coast State College) stole home while Ben Zink (Clayton, OH; Wright State University) moved to second base. The Das would score the next eleven runs unaswered.
Zach Cabell (North Ridgeville, OH; Clark State College) got the start, lasting 2.1 innings while allowing five hits, four earned runs, five total runs, two walks, while striking out one. Andrew DeWitt (Springfield, OH; Clark State College) relived the starter, going the next 2.2 innings. Another three runs (two earned) with six hits and one walk were issued by DeWitt. Johnathan Ray (Sylvania, OH; Tiffin University) pitched the last 1.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on three walks, three hits, while striking out two.
Ben Zink, Sam Seeker (Tallmadge, OH; University of Akron), and Hilario DeLaPaz III (Kalamazoo, MI; Tiffin University) collected the three hits for Champion City. The Kings fell to 2-7, now planning to start a four-game homestand. The Lafayette Aviators will come to town on Saturday for Fireworks Night.
