Two-run Eighth Ruins Kings Comeback at Johnstown 6-4

JOHNSTOWN, PA – A back-and-forth game was settled in Johnstown’s half of the eighth inning, with the Champion City Kings falling short 6-4 in the first of three straight road games in Western Pennsylvania.

Gercal Reyes-Alvarado (Santon Domingo, Dominican Republic; Tallahassee Community College) made his third start of the season, going six strong innings with three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks, striking out three. Andrew DeWitt (Springfield, OH; Clark State College) went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one unearned run on two walks and one hit with one strikeout. Johnathon Ray (Sylvania, OH; Tiffin University) went the last 1.1 innings, giving up the go-ahead runs in the eighth with one hit and two walks, striking out four.

The Kings struck first in the first inning, as Broc Parmer (Fargo, ND; Gulf Coast State College) singled home Evan Lorey (Howell, MI; Spring Arbor University.) In the sixth inning, Parmer delivered his second RBI with a Double to bring in Blake Buzzeo (Stow, OH; Miami University.) Parmer would eventually come home with a Eric Fouraker (Bryceville, FL; University of North Florida) RBI Single.

In the eighth inning, Ben Zink (Clayton, OH; Wright State University) hit his first home run as a King to tie the game again, but Champion City was unable to score again in the ninth to fall 6-4.
