SPRINGFIELD, OH – The West Virginia Miners picked up right where they left off in the first game, getting two runs in their first inning and sweeping the doubleheader at Champion City with a 6-1 nightcap win.
Kyler Archual (Columbus, OH; Tiffin Univ.) went three innings as the starter, giving up five earned runs off of seven hits, three walks, and one strikeout. Nathan Jendraszkiewicz (Aurora, IL; Lake Land College) threw two innings, allowing one earned run off of two hits, three walks, while striking out three. Kyle Mahon (Centerville, OH; Wittenberg) made his 2022 debut for the Kings by throwing a 1-2-3 inning with one punchout.
Offensively, Alex Ryan (Lake Mills, WI; Valparaiso) doubled in the only run, scoring Trey Carter (Wheelersburg, OH; Rio Grande) in the fourth inning. The Kings mustered out seven hits, led by both Alex Ryan and Edrick Padilla (Salinas, Puerto Rico; Ohio Wesleyan) having 2 for 4 games.
The Kings are on the road for much of the next two weeks, but return back to Carleton Davidson Stadium this Thursday against the Chillicothe Paints.
