Paints 7, Kings 6 (Ten Innings)

SPRINGFIELD, OH – Alex Ryan (Lake Mills, WI; Valparaiso) hit his team-leading fifth home run of the year to give Champion City their first lead of the night, but it was not enough with Chillicothe winning 7-6 in ten innings.

Jake Woolf (Beavercreek, OH; California Univ. of Penn.) made his third start of the season, allowing a three-run home run in the opening frame. Just one more run would score off of the starter, as Woolf worked six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, two walks, and four strikeouts. After Woolf departed, three more Kings pitchers would pitch. Nathan Jendraszkiewicz (Aurora, IL; Lake Land College) pitched the seventh, allowing a run on one hit and one walk with one punchout. Gabe Phipps (Yorktown, IN; Lake Land College) threw two innings, allowing the tying run to score in the ninth inning on three hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Kyle Mahon (Centerville, OH; Wittenberg) allowed his first run of the year in the tenth, proving to be the difference make for Chillicothe. Mahon gave up one run, two hits, one walk, and one strikeout.

All six of the Kings run were off the Paints starter, with the Chillicothe bullpen going 5.1 innings, only allowing two hits and one walk. Along with Ryan’s 3-run HR, Evan Lorey (Howell, MI; Spring Arbor Univ.) went 2-for-5 with one RBI.

The Kings, now 4-7 in the 2nd Half, welcome in West Virginia on Wednesday evening. Special guest Todd Benzinger will be in attendance. For ticket information, PLTV links, and more, keep it here to championcitykings.com!
