Alex Ryan has been named the Prospect League Slugger of the Week for June 6th-12th!

Alex Ryan (Lake Mills, Wisconsin; Valparaiso) has been named the Prospect League Slugger of the Week for June 6th-12th! It is the first award given to a Kings player for the 2022 season.

Ryan batted .071 coming into the June 6th home game against the Johnstown Mill Rats. That game started off an offensive boom for the Valparaiso Beacon, as Ryan went 4 for 5 in the June 6th game against the Mill Rats, including his first and second home run of the year. With three runs scored and five RBI, Ryan was a key piece of staying close with Johnstown in the ten-inning 10-8 loss.

Heading on the road to West Virginia for a doubleheader, Ryan continued to pick up the hits and RBI, as he went 3 for 5 with one walk, one RBI, one triple, and one strikeout. Moving the series back home to Springfield, Alex Ryan went a perfect 3-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and one RBI.

Against Lafayette for the home two-game series, Ryan went 1-for-6 with one walk and one run scored. He, along with the Kings, didn’t get a chance to face the Miners for a second time, where he went a blistering.750 against West Virginia.

For the week, Ryan went .579 with 11 hits and 7 RBI. His average stands at .364, 12-for-33 with one triple, two home runs, two walks and just two strikeouts. The .364 mark is tied for second on the team with Joel Gardner, but Ryan has 22 more at-bats.

You can catch Alex Ryan and the rest of the Kings in action back at Carleton Davidson Stadium this Tuesday, June 14th and Wednesday, June 15th against Johnstown and the Mill Rats. For tickets, PLTV links, the new podcast “King Me!”, and more, please visit championcitykings.com!
