Close Game Goes Lopsided in Danville with 7-1 loss

DANVILLE, IL – For the second road game of the young 2023 season, the Champion City Kings visited the Danville Dans. What was a close game through the eighth inning, the Kings fell for the fourth straight time with a 7-1 road loss.

Gercal Reyes-Alvarado (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Tallahassee Community College) made his first start of the year, already victorious once with his relief appearance against Johnstown on Opening Night. His start would only go two innings, with two unearned runs allowed on three hits, one walk, and two strikeouts. In the third, Nori Curi (West Chester, OH; Clark State College) would give the Kings five innings of shutout relief, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight.

With Curi keeping the Dans at bay with their 2-0 lead, the Kings got their run in the seventh inning. It was Evan Lorey (Howell, MI; Spring Arbor University) singling home Carson Womer (Parrish, FL; Florida State College at Jacksonville.) The Dans would maintain their lead and add on in the eighth against Colin Ames (South Lebanon, OH; Gulf Coast State College.) The graduate of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy gave up five earned runs on three walks and two hits without an out recorded. Cole Agemy (Macomb, MI; Marshall University) closed the door on Danville, but the Kings couldn’t score again in the 7-1 loss.

The Kings, now 1-4 on the year, are back at home June 5th and 6th against the Chillicothe Paints and Terre Haute Rex. For tickets and PLTV streams, keep it here to championcitykings.com!
