Mill Rats Win Rain-Shortened Contest, 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Champion City Kings (2-4) kicked off a busy week at Carleton Davidson Stadium with a Tuesday (June 4) contest against the Northeast Division leading Johnstown Mill Rats (5-2).

Johnstown limited the Kings to four hits as the Mill Rats were victorious in a 2-0 game as heavy rain ended the game in the middle of the sixth inning.

The Mill Rats scored one run in the third inning and added a second run in the fifth inning, that’s all that the visitors would need. Both runs scored on sacrifice flies.

Drew Gaskins (Sunbury, Ohio / Oakland) singled twice while Ray Hawkins (Miamisburg, Ohio / Palm Beach Atlantic) added a single. Caden Miller (Lockport, Illinois / Alvin CC) doubled in the fourth.

Luke Swanger (Lebanon, Ohio / Cedarville) started and allowed one unearned run in three innings of work, taking the loss. Wesley Culley (Millington, Tenn. / University of the Cumberlands) finished with one run surrendered in two innings.

The home stand continues on Wednesday (June 5) as Champion City hosts the Danville Dans at 6:35 PM.
